Premji, Chairman WIPRO, is a Stanford graduate. He has always been driven by the desire to build organisations focused on quality, and committed to adding value--to the lives of customers, clients, the common man and local communities. Since the late 1960s, Premji has led Wipro from a $2 million hydrogenated cooking fat company into a close to $8 billion revenue IT, BPO and R&D Services organisation present in 58 countries. Regularly hailed as one the world’s most influential business icons and global thought leaders, he considers awards and accolades as recognition for Team Wipro. Today, Wipro continues to be socially responsible--employing fair, ethical and ecologically sensitive business practices--and active in fundamental societal issues. Initiatives include the ‘Wipro Applying Thought in Schools’ (in India), the ‘Wipro STEM (Science Technology, Engineering Mathematics) Fellowships’ (in the US) and ‘Mission 10X’ to transform education, as also ‘Wipro Cares’ for local community causes.
